For want of a simple cord

I had such plans to take so many pictures and post regularly, but when I finally got settled and unpacked I was frustrated to find that the charger cord I thought was for my phone, was not. Oh no, no charger, no power, no phone and worse, no camera.

No worries, thought I the savvy traveler, the ship will have extras, or they will sell them in the overpriced ship store but no. Neither was the case. Okay, I'll ask the people who really know how to get things on the ship, my room stewards - Mono and Gede. Mono offered his own for me to borrow until we got to Juneau the next day when I could buy one at the ATT store I had located on the google map.

Juneau - the capital of the largest state in the US - and they don't sell phone chargers anywhere downtown. The ATT store was an empty storefront and the only other open merchants sold tshirts, jewelry, and tons of crappy souveniers emblazoned with Alaska logos. Sigh.

So back to sharing with the cabin steward and carefully monitoring battery usage with a very dim screen.

But then yesterday we arrived in Skegway, a town only accessible by boat or plane. Maybe that's why their well stocked hardware store had no only iphone chargers but offered them in a variety of colors. My new lime green charger cord can never again be confused with the white Kindle charger and my anxiety over keeping my phone charged can recede into a distant memory, thank goodness.

So here they are, some photos of my amazing trip .
