What I chose at the ice cream parlor

I'm going to blame the 31 flavors guys for starting me with this secret obsession for always choosing something I want to possess from a large array of options. At the Baskin Robbins on the other side of town where we used to travel on very exceptional Sundays we could choose two scoops from what at the time seemed like so many unique and exotic flavors. Certainly nothing like the artisnal ice creams of today, (olive oil and rosemary; pistachio, honey and ricotta; carrot habanero pepper) but jamoca almond fudge sounded like a world away at the ice cream store two blocks from the Jackson zoo.

I always chose bubble gum and chocolate btw.

It's an almost constant internal game I play assessing what I want most of all possibilities. At my first job as a sales girl at the newly opened Casual Corner, I spent the better part of my time as well as my paycheck constantly deciding which outfit or accessory was my must have of the day. Every hostess shift was spent mentally perusing the menu to decide what I would order. At the gallery, Lucius and I play "If the gallery burst into flames and you could only save one piece of art, what would it be?"

Now my choices have risen to a whole new level of envy and desire as I peruse the long list of products and services Contour Dermatology offers. Starting with my most favorite spa treatment - the facial - all the way up to the most invasive option of a full face lift, there are an array of options I weigh now to choose what beauty-creating service will I indulge in when I become eligible.

I'm starting a new mini-blog on this site where I'll be highlighting and detailing a new service or product each month. Subscribe to this site if you want to be update when new information is posted. But here I want to tell you about what I've chosen and why.

I'll start with an abbreviated list of my choices:

Facial - it is my favorite and feels good as compared to some of the other less then soothing treatments

Chemical Peel - it's all about exfoliation

Laser facial treatments - big fan of lasers for overall texture improvement

Botox/Dysport - the gateway drug

Fillers - amazing new products and uses - definitely a high contender

Kimbella/Ultherapy -deals with that awful stalactite chin

Definitely want to try them all but they are not what I want to try first. My choice for the beauty piggy bank fund is . . . CoolSculpting.

Coolsculpting freezes your fat and allows your body to eliminate it naturally. It is the fabulous new technology that provides an alternative to dealing with unwanted fat with out the more invasive process of liposuction. If you really want to know more about it click on the link above. I don't want this blog to be a regurgitation of the tremendous amount of information I'm learning each day and of course I'm always available for a consult to discuss any and all treatments. :)

I want to share with you why I chose this procedure. It takes the body several months to eliminate the dead fat cells so results take up to 3 months. That's ok, I'm in no rush. After all I have waited at least ten years to get rid of this post-menopausal fat layer that attached to my mid-section like some alien creature. I swear, before menopause I never had a gut; I carried weight in my butt and thighs.

I'm in pretty good shape, exercise and usually eat fairly well. However my weight is 10 to 15 pounds heavier than I'd like which I attribute to my current need to self-medicate with Claim Jumper pies and other sugar laden anti-depressants. I chose the death by sugar rather than alcohol route.

So Coolsculpting will target those fat pockets on my back, arms and that horrifying belly that don't go away even after I throw out the pie and get back in the pool. It won't be cheap and will take some time but just you wait - one day I will post my abs on this site, the thought of which makes me queasy at the moment. But not so much so that I can't go eat the Memorial Day Belgian Waffle I'm about to make.
